Jud Blount
Owner
Jud Blount is a multifaceted entrepreneur with notable success in the restaurant and hospitality industry. As the leader of Vintage Hospitality Group, he oversees an expansive team of seasoned professionals and brings expertise across all facets of hospitality, with a focus on developing innovative, experience-driven concepts. Born and raised in Montgomery, Jud attended the University of Alabama, where he studied Business Administration and Management.
Prior to taking over the renowned Vintage Year restaurant in 2015, Jud served as President, CEO, and Co-Owner of Filet & Vine for 19 years, growing it into Central Alabama’s largest specialty market, deli, and bottle shop. In 2018, he opened Vintage Café, a coffee shop and daytime eatery. In 2020, in partnership with Alabama Power, he launched MGM Greens, a fully climate-controlled hydroponic farm producing leafy greens and herbs for local restaurants and the community, which has since completed its operational run. In 2021, he was named Restaurateur of the Year by the Alabama Restaurant and Hospitality Association. In 2022, he opened Red Bluff Bar at the Silos in downtown Montgomery’s Riverfront Park. The same year, he completed the City Fed restoration project, which includes Ravello Ristorante, Bar Attico, and multiple private event spaces. In 2023, Jud collaborated opening Frenchie’s in Cloverdale. He is currently involved in the redevelopment of the historic Grove Court Apartments, a 1947-era complex being transformed into modern residential housing under the name 555 South Court.
He is actively involved in initiatives that strengthen Montgomery’s cultural and civic fabric, including the Capri Theatre Marquee Magic Campaign, Light the Heart of Cloverdale, and Jubilee CityFest. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Montgomery Chamber. He currently serves on the boards of the Montgomery Area Committee of 100, the Trenholm State Foundation Board of Control, the UAB Montgomery Regional Campus Advisory Board, and the Alabama Restaurant and Hospitality Association.
Throughout his career, Jud has focused on revitalizing Montgomery through adaptive reuse, job creation, and experience-based hospitality. His projects have consistently transformed underutilized or historic properties into active economic and community assets, helping drive downtown revitalization, increase tourism, and strengthen local employment opportunities.
Jud has two children, Jud Jr. and Susannah, both of whom work within Vintage Hospitality Group. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, hunting, fishing, and live music.
